A Week to Bloom: Join Me at Snow Farm This May

Paper flower workshop at Snow Farm

There's something about peonies in May.

The way they unfurl slowly, petal by petal. How their color shifts from deep coral pink to the softest apricot as they age. The patience required to watch them open. There’s no rushing, no forcing, just waiting for the perfect moment when they're ready to reveal themselves fully.

This May, I'm teaching a workshop at Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, Massachusetts, and I can't stop thinking about it. Not just because we'll be making coral charm peonies (though that alone has my heart racing), but because of what this week represents: a chance to slow down, reconnect with our hands, and rediscover the quiet joy of making something beautiful.

Why Snow Farm, Why Now

I've taught workshops for over a decade. A lot of quick afternoon sessions, weekend intensives, and hands-on demos. And while I love them all, there's something irreplaceable about a multi-day immersive experience. The kind where you arrive with your shoulders up around your ears and leave with your breathing slower, your hands steadier, your creative voice a little clearer.

Snow Farm offers exactly that.

From the moment your tires crunch over their dirt road, and you step into the fresh country air, everything invites you to exhale. To be present. To let your mind and body settle into a rhythm that feels deeply, wonderfully human.

This isn't a weekend hustle. It's a week to bloom.

What We'll Create Together

Over five days (May 11-15), we'll dive deep into the art of paper floristry. And I mean deep. We're not just making one flower and calling it done. We will explore the coral charm peony in all its stages: from tight buds to just-opening blooms to its dying stage.

We'll talk about why this peony is so special. How its color transforms as it ages. How to capture that vibrant coral-to-apricot gradient using European crepe paper. We'll take our time crafting the intricate stamens that surround the carpels. It’s these tiny details that make all the difference between "pretty" and "breathtaking."

And here's what I'm most excited about: I'll be right there beside you. Adjusting a petal. Sharing a quiet tip. Gently guiding you to create a peony that represents your style, your vision, your hands.

You'll make as many flowers as you want during the week, from peonies’ buds, blooms, and supporting flowers like jasmine vines and garden roses. And on our final day together, we'll arrange everything into a beautiful composition in a compote vase that you'll take home.

An arrangement that will never fade. One that will remind you, every time you look at it, to slow down and create something beautiful with your hands.

What a Day Looks Like

Imagine waking up at the farm, spring light streaming through your window. You wander down for breakfast, coffee in hand, ready for a day in the studio.

We'll spend our mornings exploring the flowers in depth, talking about the details, how to cut and color the paper, and how to shape each petal with intention. I'll move between students, spending time with each of you, answering questions, troubleshooting, and celebrating your progress.

Over lunch and dinner, we can chat about the world of paper flowers, your creative dreams, technical challenges, and life stories. Or you can take a break anytime and wander the farm, breathing in whatever May has to offer. Apple blossoms. Fresh grass. That particular quality of spring light that makes everything feel possible.

The rhythm is gentle. Patient. Built for discovery, not deadlines.

Why This Matters (And Why I Hope You'll Join Me)

I've watched students transform in workshops like this. I've seen shoulders relax, breathing slow, hands find their rhythm. I've watched friendships form over paper petals and connections that last long after the workshop ends.

Because here's the truth: this week isn't just about learning techniques. It's about renewal. Self-discovery. Finding your creativity again.

Maybe you've been feeling burned out. Disconnected from your artistic side. Maybe you've been moving too fast for too long, scrolling through life at TikTok speed, and something in you is hungry for something slower, something real, something made by hand.

This week is for you.

It's a gift you give yourself. Permission to explore. To try. To make mistakes, make beauty, and make friends. To remember what it feels like when your hands are busy, and your mind is quiet, and time moves at the pace of petals unfurling.
