January Featured Artist: Margie Keates of The Lovely Ave

A message from Margie, “Everyday is a new challenge, but it's all worth it because this business is about creating beauty. The goal is to bring everlasting brightness and love into this world. We hope that you are inspired by what you have seen and choose to spread this beauty. “

It rings so true. Margie has the most beautiful soul, and it is translated into your flowers. It was such an honor to talk to in person earlier this month. Give it a watch, so many nuggets of information was shared between the two of us during our chat. I hope our message resonates with you, and it inspires you to create beautiful paper flowers too!

Margie will do another LIVE Instagram interview later this month, and that interview will be posted to the Facebook Posey Box Group. If you are a Posey Box Subscribers, come and to join us live on January 23 at noon PST on Instagram!

One of my goals for the Posey Box is to help you make better flowers and most importantly, to learn how to arrange flowers! I am so excited to start a new series for the Posey Box Subscribers, called “Playing with Flowers.” I hope you will enjoy this series as much as I enjoyed meeting up with local florists and showing you the mechanics of arranging a centerpiece or bouquet this year!

First off is my darling friend, Keita Horn of Smashing Petals. In this video we are working one of the items included in the Posey Box, the Holly Chapple’s 4” pillow.

Next up is Alicia Schwede of Flirty Fleurs. I wanted to show you the difference between working with a Holly Chapple’s pillow and chicken wire. In this video, I brought some white chicken wire that we used in a vintage milk glass vase that I found at an antique store.

Playing with flowers around here, means we get to play with paper flowers too! I love seeing Jessie Chui of Crafted to Bloom work her magic and see a beautiful paper arrangement come together. I absolutely adore her paper flowers, don’t you?

We ended the month of January, with an final interview with Margie about Instagram and the creative ways you can use IG Stories to create a better platform to showcase your work and connect with your followers. Thank you so much, Margie, for giving us your time and love for paper florals!

I hoped you enjoyed the interviews and floral arranging demos. I can’t wait meet up with other florists and show you all the unique ways of playing with flowers this year! For more deeper conversations on floral arranging, hop over to the private Facebook Posey Box Group.
